Once upon a time, acrylic was my favorite medium, but it fell into oblivion for quite a few years. Not enough time and then there was a house and garden and cats and children too.
I joined a course in Vedic Art recently, out of curiousity, and although you can use any techniques and colors you want with that method, I was looking forward to using the acrylics again. Said and done, I bought a number of colours, both basic colours and a few shades I like.
And then I was off to start painting. But it wasn’t as easy as I had remembered it. It took quite a few weeks of stubborn practice before I figured out how to get along with this medium. I still find it hard to get along very well with acrylic paint, but we are becoming friends, little by little. I hope we will work well together very soon. Maybe already in spring!
I love how I can add and change things around with this medium. I don’t always know when to stop so it’s hard to figure out when a painting is done sometimes. And how do you know when it’s finished, you ask? Well, I’ve noticed it will tell me about it! If I listen carefully, for sometimes it whispers so quietly, and sometimes it roars so loud it makes me jump!
Here is one that started going in one direction…
… and then continued to morph itself into something completely different! I hasn’t yet told me it’s finished.
